Hadith 416

Sneezing and Yawning

ENGLISH

Ibn Mas'ud reported that the Prophet, (ﷺ), said, "There are four things that one Muslim owes another Muslim:

to visit him when he is ill, to be with him when he dies, to accept when he invites him, and to ask for mercy on him when he sneezes."

ARABIC

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ‏:‏ أَرْبَعٌ لِلْمُسْلِمِ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ‏:‏ يَعُودُهُ إِذَا مَرِضَ، وَيَشْهَدُهُ إِذَا مَاتَ، وَيُجِيبُهُ إِذَا دَعَاهُ، وَيُشَمِّتُهُ إِذَا عَطَسَ‏.‏
